Abstract
Customer's demand for high quality products place severe restrictions to the liquid steel temperature. Deviations and thermal waste, due to routine instability and high process variability, are not longer acceptable in the present high competitive scenario. The development of a thermal control system becomes necessary, which its technical fundamentals are based on the heat transfer basic mechanisms of the liquid steel, and that allows a totally automatic and integrated management of the liquid steel and refractory equipment temperature. In the present work, a project developed at the steel plant, in order to improve the temperature control of the liquid steel, is presented.
