Hatch upgrades New Brunswick hydro facility
Hatch Energy has been retained by Edmundston Energy to provide design services for redevelopment of the Madawaska hydro generating station in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada.
Hatch will design a new intake, penstock, powerhouse and tailrace for a new 3.5-MW hydroelectric unit on the east end of the dam.
The project follows 12 years of work on the facility under the direction of Greg Snyder, including assistance in the acquisition of the facility by Edmundston Energy in 2005.
Edmundston Energy is a division of the City of Edmundston, and is the local distributor of energy. The city plans to achieve EcoLogo certification and reduce 13,600 tonnes of CO2 annually.
The project is scheduled for completion in May 2010.
The Hatch office in Fredericton will lead the project with support from the Hatch offices in St. John’s, Niagara Falls and Vancouver.
