Hatch awarded study for "world's largest" underground mine
Hatch has been awarded a feasibility study by Codelco Chile for its Chuquicamata Underground Mine project in Chile, which could be developed into the world's largest underground copper mine.
Hatch will focus on the basic engineering for the development of access works, environmental studies, human resources, management models, mineral handling, permanent infrastructure, processes, services and supplies, shafts, tunnels and ventilation works.
The Chuquicamata Underground Mine Project is Codelco’s largest feasibility engineering project to date.
The Hatch office in Santiago is undertaking the assignment, with support from the Johannesburg and Sudbury offices.
