Hatch designs Chilean tunnel project
Hatch has been retained by Codelco, the world's largest copper company to continue the second phase of the El Teniente Tunnels project in Chile.
The team will design two interconnected tunnels, each nine kilometres long and nine metres tall. One tunnel will provide personnel access, and the other will provide a path for mineral-extraction conveyor belts.
Hatch completed the preliminary studies in phase one with support from both Hatch Mott MacDonald and Mott MacDonald.
Hatch completed the first phase of the project in September 2008. The second phase is scheduled for completion in May 2009.
