Hatch awarded slurry-effluents study
Codelco Norte has awarded Hatch a feasibility study for the HELE slurry effluents optimization and handling project for the Concentrate Smelter at the Chuquicamata mine in Chile.
In Spanish, HELE refers to horno eléctrico (electric furnace).
At the project's peak, a team of about 20 experts will be required to provide process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil and structural input.
The assignment began in February and is scheduled for completion in July. The assignment will be managed by Hatch Antofagasta.
The feasibility study is part of the “on-call” services contract between Hatch and Codelco Norte.
