TXI Chaparral Steel is a mini-mill producer of structural products located in Texas USA, with a reputation for
process innovation.

Chaparral's new 1 million ton per year greenfield steel plant will produce sheet piling and structural steel sections.

Innovative technology incorporated in the project includes:

• State-of-the-art electric arc furnace technology
• Chaparral's patented, energy efficient, near net shape continuous casting process for production of structural steel products
• A new, proprietary sections rolling mill designed supplied by SMS Schloemann Siemag, a steel industry
  equipment manufacturer incorporating Chaparral’s quick roll change system

Scope of Services
Hatch was engaged by Chaparral to provide the following services:

• Engineering design, including use of Hatch SAI engineering software
• Project Management including Procurement and Cost Control services
• Environmental permit application assistance
• Technical assistance on site

Project Highlights
This steel mill is the first to be built that incorporates Chaparral's in-house casting and rolling technical
developments.
