Abstract
The hot metal transfer baghouse at Iniand's No. 2 BOF (basic oxygen furnace) shop in East Chicago, Indiana was plagued with a combination of problems. The 400,000 ACFM capacity negative pressure shaker baghouse operated at excessively high pressure drop (14 inch w.g. across bags), reducing system flow capacity to 60% of design and causing dust to bleed through bags. Frequent bag failures also occured.
