The total duration for the FEL4 project implementation phase including detail engineering, construction and precommissioning (cold) of the MSP TTP is estimated at 36 months from January 2008 to December 2010 which includes two planned project delays totalling 6 months. Project hot commissioning and ramp-up, is scheduled for completion by March 2011.

The end products are Sorelmetal (high purity pig iron) and a high titanium dioxide content slag. Facilities include a roaster plant, a coal charring plant, a smelter with two, 6 electrode-in-line furnaces of 105 MVA rating each and a slag processing plant.

Addition of smelting furnace utilizing Cygnus Process Management System, Allen-Bradley PLC - 3's and VAX process computers. Systems controlled include the weighing and charging, smelting power control, furnace off-gas and fume handling.
