A large ‘fly-in/fly-out’ and local workforce was involved in the
construction of the plant and a shortage of single person’s accommodation in Karratha required the
development of a purpose-built construction accommodation facility to support the project.

Hatch was commissioned by MPDJV to undertake the conceptual and detailed design and documentation of a 1,000-person accommodation village for workers involved in the construction of new BHP Billiton Iron Ore satellite mines at Orebody 18, 24 and 25, and the upgrading of existing crushing/screening facilities at Newman, Western Australia.
