Abstract
In Canada, country’s oil and gas sector is centered in the province of Alberta, and with significant coal resources as well, the province is often in the spot light of climate change discussions. In response, the provincial government, the federal government, NGO’s and industry have created multiple initiatives that are leading the way to make the energy sector a responsible and sustainable industry.
On a global scale, a portfolio of technologies must be applied and developed to mitigate the effects of GHG emissions from humans and industry. The International Energy Agency has identified a portfolio of solutions that will help us reduce GHG emissions on large scale. One important tool is the combination of carbon capture and sequestration .
