Canada: Suncor Energy’s Wintering Hills Wind Project
Hatch delivers balance-of-plant EPCM services to Wintering Hills
Suncor Energy’s largest wind power project to date will be the 88-megawatt (MW) Wintering Hills development near Drumheller, Alberta. Wintering Hills is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 35,000 homes, and displace the equivalent of approximately 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
The initiative will feature 55 General Electric 1.6-MW wind turbines installed across 10,000 acres of private land. The project is on an elevated plateau adjacent to a 144-kilovolt transmission line.
Hatch will provide balance-of-plant engineering, procurement and construction management services. The project is scheduled for completion in 2011.
